Surrey Storm will have the chance to defend their Vitality Netball Superleague crown at the Grand Final after overcoming Hertfordshire Mavericks in arguably the greatest Superleague semi-final of all time.
It had already been billed as the potential match-up of the season and the two teams did not disappoint. Mavericks gained an early advantage and retained a two goal lead going into the half-time break.
The home side turned the tables and led by one heading into the final fifteen minutes. A capacity crowd were on their edge of their collective seat as the scores were tied at 50-50 with two minutes remaining.
Wonderful through court pressure allowed Surrey to claim a vital turnover and, despite strong fight from Mavericks, they were able to see out a 53-51 success to confirm their place in the title decider.
The 2016 Grand Final will be a repeat of the 2014 classic when a last second goal gave Manchester Thunder victory over Storm. The side from Guildford will be hoping to exact revenge when these two clash on Saturday at the Copper Box Arena.
