Hertfordshire Mavericks survived a scare to narrowly see off Celtic Dragons 53-49 in Hatfield at the weekend.

It was a second win of the season for the team in purple and black as they closed the gap on the top four.

The match was in the balance all the way up to the final whistle as the Dragons fought back from a five goal deficit at half-time to narrow the gap in the closing stages.

A Player of the Match performance from Sophie Drakeford-Lewis in the shooting circle eventually saw the hosts hold on for the win.
