Storm bounce back with win against Dragons

Surrey Storm claimed a resounding 70-42 victory over Celtic Dragons at Surrey Sports Park

Saturday’s defeat to benecosMavericks did not dampen Storm’s spirit and they came out fighting from the very first whistle.

Storm made a strong start with four unanswered goals before Dragons had the chance to get on the scoreboard. They did not stop and kept up their impressive attack throughout the quarter, ending it with a score of 19-7.

The pressure continued in the second quarter. The defensive unit picked up several rebounds and interceptions, which were brought up the court and safely converted into goals. It was extremely difficult for Dragons to get the ball into their shooting circle as Storm went into half-time leading 33-17.

The third quarter got off to a fast start, with both teams quickly converting their centre passes into goals, adding to the score.

The whole team then began to apply more defensive pressure, forcing turnovers in Storm’s favour who then began to score goals in quick succession, taking a 56-28 lead into the final quarter.

The pressure was on Dragons from the start of the final quarter. With some changes made throughout the quarter, Storm managed to hold on to and expand their lead throughout. Dragons kept battling until the end but Storm ran out 70-42 winners.
