Tamsin Greenway’s Team of the Week

Round 16 is done and dusted which means another Team of the Week is coming your way.

Netballing legend turned Sky Sports pundit, Tamsin Greenway is in this week’s hot seat and has selected her strong seven following round 16.

Surrey Storm’s Proscovia Peace-Nwokocha begins the line-up at goal shooter after a stunning performance in their game on Saturday. Shooting at 100% and scoring 51 goals out of 68, her dominant performance means she earns a spot in this week’s team.

Strathclyde Sirens’ Sammy Ngubane comes into this week’s selection for a second time this season. 43 goals for the goal attack and a percentage of 91% meant she led her side to their first win of the season on Friday night.

Elle McDonald of LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons had a standout performance against Saracens Mavericks on Saturday night, earning herself the Experience Kissimmee Player of the Match award. 32 feeds to her shooting counterparts and 20 centre passes received sees her in this week’s selection. Tamsin said:

“McDonald helped Dragons with a dominant win over Mavs. She was involved in everything, controlling the end 3rd and feeding faultlessly with 32 feeds in total.”

Severn Stars skipper Gabby Marshall comes in at centre this week after qualifying for the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. Her performance in Huddersfield saw her bank 34 feeds, two deflections, three pick-ups and one gain. This will be Stars’ first time in the club’s history in the semi-finals and Tamsin’s selection of Marshall is a solid choice for the centre bib.

The wing defence bib was handed to Manchester Thunder’s Imogen Allison. Earning the Experience Kissimmee Player of the Match award, Tamsin said:

“Alison was so controlled in a tight physical and defensive game against Pulse. She played in both WD And C but her leadership and space she found was key when her team needed her most.”

Goal defence sees the formidable Funmi Fadoju from London Pulse. This is her 10th appearance in Team of the Week this season. Tamsin told us:

“Fadoju was just outstanding – she did everything she could to try to help her team get over the line against Thunder – she cleaned up on 12 deflections and 2 interceptions and Thunder had to try 3 different goal attacks against her.”

Team Bath’s Jayda Pechova completes this week’s line-up at goal keeper. The young star picked up three rebounds, 3 interceptions, four deflections, four pick-ups and eight gains in their match on Friday night. Her eight gains being the majority of the 13 taken in the match, she certainly impressed Tamsin with her performance.
