Share An extended mid-season break was of no benefit to Celtic Dragons in their game against London Pulse on Friday 28 May as the Londoners took their game up a gear in the second half to secure a 51-30 victory. It was a good start for Dragons, with Amy Clinton accurate and composed in goal, well-supported by captain Rebekah Robinson at GA. Pulse threatened to take a big early lead, but Dragons were patient and made the opposition work for every goal. Pulse were not at their best as the quarter wore on and so Dragons kept the deficit down to 3 goals after 12 minutes played. Similarly, the second period saw Dragons keep in close touch with Pulse. The team had to show strong resilience as vice-captain Clare Jones was off with injury for most of the quarter, but came back on to bolster the team's spirits in the closing minutes. Goal keeper Annika Lee-Jones was a big part of the strong second quarter showing, closing down space in the circle and using her formidable height to put big pressure on the Pulse shooters. Despite trailing at half time, it was still anyone's game and now was the time for Dragons to strike a blow. As it transpired, it was Pulse who came out the sharper, with Pulse goal attack Lafebre Rademan driving a cut-throat attack across court. Some unforced errors saw Dragons retreat into their shells a bit and by the end of the quarter the damage was done.
