A confident Strathclyde Sirens team defeated Saracens Mavericks 71-47 as they claimed a 24-goal win, their highest goal lead since 2017.

Both teams came out firing from the very first whistle, Mavericks were able to get on top early, forcing Sirens into error.

The Scottish franchise, however, kept their composure and with the help of their home crowd were able to lift momentum and create more opportunities to convert.

An intercept from Claire Maxwell boosted the confidence levels across the court as Beth Dix showed her creativity and flare in attack.

Mavericks responded as they brought the hustle as the first 15 minutes came to a close, but the score remained level, 15-15.

Sirens kick started the second quarter with a bang, pulling ahead by 5. Towera Vinkhumbo was fierce in defence and her energy was matched by the whole team.

Up by 10, Sirens showed no signs of slowing down as Stella Oyella at goal attack put on a show, her connection with Beth Goodwin in the circle was a real highlight of the second quarter and their consistent shooting allowed the home side to maintain their lead going into halftime, 34-23.

The second half kicked off with a goal from Goodwin and the Sirens were playing with confidence as Abi Robson in at centre proved to be a solid link between the defensive and attacking ends.

Sirens were applying pressure on the opposition as they worked tirelessly to increase their lead, their work rate in defence combined with their accuracy in attack made for a lethal combination.

Kelly Boyle entered the court at centre and made an immediate impact, carving up the mid-court as Sirens found themselves with a comfortable lead, 55-36.

Neither side back down in the final quarter with Mavericks were determined to try and narrow the score gap.

They had no luck however as with 10 minutes to go, Niamh McCall was brought into the game and slotted the ball away from every angle.
