NSL trio named in South Africa Netball World Cup squad

Three stars from the Netball Super League (NSL) have been named in the SPAR Proteas squad for the Vitality Netball World Cup 2023.

Manchester Thunder‘s sharp shooter Lenize Potgieter – currently shooting at 96.83% – has been selected for her third World Cup and she will be joined by Thunder teammate Shadine van der Merwe and Saracens Mavericks‘ shooter Ine-Mari Venter who come in for their second World Cup.

The SPAR Proteas will be captained by former Surrey Storm and Wasps midcourter Bongiwe Msomi. Former Team Bath players Khanyisa Chawane and Phumza Maweni have also been selected along with former London Pulse and Celtic Dragons‘ attacker Lefabre Rademan who returns to after tearing her ACL 10 months ago.

Following the announcement of the Vitality Roses, South Africa – the hosts for the Vitality Netball World Cup – are the second country to name their team for the tournament.

Norma Plummer will lead her South African charges to their second successive World Cup after doing so back in 2019.

The players selected to don the Green and Gold for South Africa are:
Bongiwe Msomi (Captain); Karla Pretorius (Vice Captain); Khanyisa Chawane; Izette Griesel; Owethu Ngubane; Refiloe Nketsa; Phumza Maweni; Lenize Potgieter; Lefebre Rademan; Nicola Smith; Jeante Strydom; Nichole Taljaard; Elmere van der Berg; Shadine van der Merwe, Ine-Mari Venter

Sky Sports will be showing every game of the Vitality Netball World Cup 2023 live from Cape Town, South Africa.

All of the games will be shown live across Sky Sports channels, with one match per day available to all on the Sky Sports YouTube channel. Highlights will be available on the Sky Sports App every day allowing the Netball Family to catch up on any action they may have missed.
