Share Saracens Mavericks have announced the return of captain Sasha Corbin for the 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague season. Equally comfortable at centre or wing attack, Corbin will once again bring her dynamic attacking style, leadership skills and wealth of experience to the talented Mavericks squad. The 32-year-old is currently enjoying her third stint and soon to be her 10th campaign with Mavericks, having first played for the club in the 2005/06 season. After a spell with Team Bath Netball, during which she won three Superleague titles (2007, 2009 and 2010), she returned to once again represent the Hertfordshire side from 2011-15. Corbin lifted the Superleague trophy with Mavericks in 2011 and was also chosen to captain the club from 2013-15. Following a move to Loughborough Lightning, where she suffered a cruciate knee injury which cut short her season, and a spell out in New Zealand with Northern Mystics, Corbin returned home to Mavericks in September 2017. On the international stage, Corbin has 71 caps to her name and represented the Vitality Roses at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where the team finished fourth. She is currently an England Netball ambassador and is passionate about inspiring and encouraging people of all ages and abilities to play netball. Corbin’s re-signing follows this week’s earlier announcements that Bella Baylis and Britney Clarke would be making the step up to the VNSL with Aliyah Zaranyika also recommitting after making her debut at the Season Opener in 2020. Last week, Mavericks made it known that a handful of Vitality Roses in Kadeen Corbin, Jodie Gibson, Razia Quashie and Gabby Marshall would also be staying in Hertfordshire next term. With more players to be revealed over the coming hours and days, be sure to keep your eyes peeled on social to find out who will be joining them for 2021.
