Chloe Essam of Saracens Mavericks.

Saracens Mavericks have announced that Chlose Essam will be returning for her second consecutive Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) season with Saracens Mavericks.

Essam joined from Wasps Netball for the 2020 campaign and became the youngest player in the Mavericks squad that season.

Now 21, the former Loughborough Lightning player will be looking to kick on after her first season in Hertfordshire was cut short.

A versatile player in the final third of the court, Chloe is progressing into a fine player and her hunger to learn and drive to improve make her a valuable asset as Mavericks look to push on next season. With more time to blend with the squad, another big year is on the cards for youngster.

She said: “Super excited for the opportunity to resign for Saracens Mavericks for a second season. To get back to training and playing with the squad, and to pick up where we left off last season. Cannot wait to regroup, build, and go again! Bring on 2021.”

Essam’s re-signing follows the earlier announcements that captain Sasha Corbin, long-serving Steph Collard and Roses Future Beth Ecuyer-Dale would both be returning.

Earlier this week, news broke that ‘rookies’ Bella Baylis and Britney Clarke would be making the step up to the VNSL with Aliyah Zaranyika also recommitting after making her debut at the Season Opener in 2020.

Last week, Mavericks made it known that a handful of Vitality Roses in Kadeen Corbin, Jodie Gibson, Razia Quashie and Gabby Marshall would also be staying in Hertfordshire next term.

With more players to be revealed over the coming hours and days, be sure to keep your eyes peeled on social to find out who will be joining them for 2021.
