Sam Cook

Severn Stars’ Sam Cook has been named Vitality Player of the Month for April.

Cook impressed throughout the month, catching the eye of fans, opposition coaches and national press with her dominant displays.

The 27-year-old defender played a pivotal role as Stars notched up three wins during April, including beating then-league leaders Manchester Thunder 47-50 at Belle Vue in a dramatic affair to throw the race for the top four wide open again.

An excellent athlete and fantastic competitor on court, Cook was also instrumental as Stars ran out 45-40 winners against Strathclyde Sirens and secured a 46-51 victory away to Surrey Storm.

Cook’s reading of the game, ability to check the opponent’s shot and bring the ball through well make her a dominant defender and a formidable opponent for any attackers.

Her skilful displays helped her side climb the table, eventually securing sixth spot with seven regular season wins.

Severn Stars’ finish sealed a place at October’s British Fast5 Netball All-Stars Championships – their third appearance in the competition.

You can buy tickets to see Cook and her teammates in action on Saturday 12th October at the Copper Box Arena here.
