The 12 players that will represent England at the Vitality Netball World Cup in July have been selected and the squad includes six current Vitality Netball Superleague players.

Congratulations to Serena Guthrie (Team Bath), Eboni Usoro-Brown (Team Bath), Jade Clark (Wasps), Rachel Dunn (Wasps), Fran Williams (Wasps) and Nat Panagarry (Loughborough Lightning).

Team Bath’s Guthrie has been named as captain of the squad and will lead her side out in Liverpool this summer.

Guthrie said: “Being selected and asked to be captain is a proud moment for me. It’s going to be a real honour for us all to step out in front of the nation. After our triumph at the Commonwealth Games last year the pressure is on to try and secure gold on a global stage again. The competition is tighter than ever but it is a huge comfort to be playing on home soil and to have the nation behind us. I can’t wait!”

Fran Williams is the youngest player in the squad at 21 years old and comes off the back of an impressive season for Wasps where she finished in the league’s top five players for interceptions.

Williams said: “I’m delighted to have been selected to compete in my first World Cup, it’s something I’ve always dreamt about and it still doesn’t feel quite real”.

Her Wasps teammate Jade Clark was also among the highest in the league for interceptions with fellow Wasps player Rachel Dunn finishing as the second-highest goal scorer in the regular season and was awarded the Vitality Player of the Season accolade.

Loughborough Lightning captain Nat Panagarry has been a standout figure for her side over the course of the season and along with her Roses teammate, Usoro-Brown both were nominated for the Vitality Player of the Season Award.

The Vitality Roses start their World Cup campaign against Uganda on Friday 12th July. They will also face Scotland and Samoa in group D.
