Share Surrey Storm are delighted to welcome Northern Ireland international Niamh Cooper for the 2020 Vitality Netball Superleague season. The 27-year-old has won 52 caps for her country, including making four starts at this summer’s Vitality Netball World Cup, having previously played for the Warriors at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games and captained the Under 21 side at the 2013 World Youth Championships. Cooper, who spent last season with Kingsway in the Netball Northern Ireland League, has Superleague experience with Loughborough Lightning and Team Northumbria. “We are delighted to welcome someone of Niamh’s calibre into our roster,” enthused Mikki Austin. “Niamh has vast international experience and impressed at this summer’s Vitality Netball World Cup. She’s a phenomenal athlete with a great personality and has slotted into our group with ease. I look forward to working with Niamh this season.” “I’m absolutely delighted to be back playing in Superleague again, after four years,” said Cooper. “I’ve really missed it, so I can’t wait to get started. I watched Storm last year and I really liked the vision that they had on court, the work ethic and the style that Mikki plays with, so it seemed like an obvious choice. Superleague looked so exciting, with how tight many of the games were.” Cooper will join Storm at the Fast4 All-Stars at the Copper Box Arena in October and is targeting immediate success. “We will push for a semi-final place, as a minimum, at Fast5. Then the ambition is obviously to get back into the (Superleague) top four, and with the drive and ambition that Mikki has, I think that’s something that we can really push for.” You can watch Niamh Cooper in action for Surrey Storm at the Season Opener 2020 – buy tickets now!
